The Holyoke Planning Board recently gave site plan approval to Winn Development for their plan to construct 88 residential units in the former Farr Alpaca Mill complex at 216 Appleton Street. The project is a partnership between Winn and the Holyoke Redevelopment Authority. Winn has a stellar reputation in the conversion of historic properties into modern housing and will invest $35 million to construct 76 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom apartments. The project is utilizing federal and state historic tax credits along with housing tax credits. Next to the Holyoke Police Station and across the street from Holyoke Heritage State Park, this project will compliment other redevelopment projects in the area including the Massachusetts Green High-Performance Computing Center and HCC Culinary Arts Institute.
